Kimbuta Multipurpose Centre
In the southern part of Kinshasa, in the vast and densely populated municipality of Mont Ngafula, Magic Amor has decided to establish its own management, school and health center, called the ‘Multipurpose Center’. This center is located in the Kimbuta neighborhood. The decision to concentrate most of its aid activities for the Congolese population in this area is supported by several reasons:
- As a newly urbanized area, the majority of Congolese living in Kimbuta belong to recent waves of migration from other provinces of the DRC. Many of these people choose to build makeshift shelters here to live with their families. Lacking financial means to lead a decent life, many locals become low-cost laborers who are “used” in construction sites and menial jobs. The vast majority of the local population lives in extreme poverty. Magic Amor’s aim is to provide free healthcare and educational opportunities to the children and youth of Kimbuta.
- Magic Amor needed a new operational center that would allow European volunteers to visit the association’s facilities without venturing into risky areas of the DRC. The Equator region, where the organization had previously founded about twenty schools, lacks the infrastructure to safely reach all parts of the region, lacks suitable accommodations for the organization’s volunteers, and entails significant costs to access the school areas.
- Many children in the Kimbuta neighborhood are orphans and require essential care, an orphanage to shelter them, and educational pathways that will enable them to grow into responsible adults and lead fulfilling lives.
The multipurpose center comprises: A primary and secondary school (the Rocco Campagna School); A clinic with a pharmacy (the Antonino Nicolosi Clinic); An orphanage (the Maison des Enfants San Marcello); The administrative offices of the association.
