The Art of the Baguette at KIMBUTA – A project supported by funds from the Waldensian Church’s ‘8x1000’ scheme
Kimbuta Bread
Join us in our commitment to training experts in baguette-making, transforming lives through knowledge and passion.
The course will be divided into a theoretical component and a practical component, both of which are compulsory, with the aim of fostering local expertise in bread-making.
The topics covered in the training courses include:
– The ingredients of bread
– Yeast
– Differences between the flours used
– The fermentation process
– The proving process
– Baking in the oven
A brief theoretical module will be followed by practical training, through which the orphans and local community members will learn, in a practical way, the topics covered in depth during the theoretical phase. The practical training enables the beneficiaries to acquire essential knowledge that will enable them to earn an income from their work, as well as to acquire the necessary tools for running a bakery business.
About us
How it works
Step 1
Selection of the trainer
Our selection process begins with a public call for applications, open to local master bakers, to identify an expert trainer in the production of baguettes.
Step 2
Skills assessment
We assess the candidates’ experience and communication skills, ensuring that they are able to convey their passion and knowledge to the students.
Step 3
Final Selection & Construction of the Bakery
The successful candidate will be the person who demonstrates a thorough understanding of bread-making techniques and a commitment to high-quality teaching. The master baker selected will be responsible for the theoretical and practical training of the trainees, who, by the end of the course, will be able to bake bread for the Maison des Enfants San Marcello and support their families through paid employment.
