Our Mission
The ‘Modern Dormitories for the Children of San Marcello’ project aims to renovate, enlarge and modernize the San Marcello orphanage, to improve the living conditions for 48 orphaned and vulnerable children in Mont Ngafula, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Led by Magic Amor, this initiative seeks to create a healthier, safer, more sustainable and more dignified environment that fosters the children’s growth and development. By aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, we strive to ensure good health and well-being for all children involved.
Challenges and Solutions
A History of Hope and Resilience
Since its opening in 2017, the San Marcello Children’s Home has served as a crucial sanctuary for children without parental care. However, the facility has faced significant challenges due to aging infrastructure and severe weather conditions. These issues have led to unhealthy living environments, affecting the children’s health and education. Our project addresses these challenges by focusing on comprehensive renovations to restore safety and dignity.
Environmental factors such as mold, poor insulation, unstable electricity, and inadequate ventilation have exacerbated the children’s vulnerability, making it imperative to improve the structural integrity of their living spaces. By tackling these challenges, Magic Amor is committed to providing a stable and nurturing environment, ensuring the children can thrive despite past adversities.
Key Features of the Renovation
Our renovation project is designed to create a nurturing environment for the children of San Marcello by focusing on safety, health, and comfort. Each aspect of the renovation aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, ensuring good health and well-being. The dormitories, which currently fall short of basic standards of comfort and safety, will be restructured to meet the needs of children who deserve protection, care, and the possibility to thrive in a supportive environment. Photovoltaic panels (10kw) will ensure stable and sustainable electricity, improving lighting and security, as well as allowing for food refrigeration. The first phase of the project will be made possible thanks to the support of a philanthropic partner, while Magic Amor continues to mobilize additional resources to fully implement this transformative vision.

Transformative Impact
The renovation will significantly enhance the children’s health by eliminating mold and improving air quality, reducing respiratory issues and infections. It will improve their security, by granting stable electricity and enhancing the building resilience to exceptional wheather events. By providing a stable, beautiful and secure environment, the project will promote mental well-being and emotional stability.
With improved facilities, children will have a better chance to focus on their education and personal development. The responsabilization of the children, through awareness-raising workshops (on hygiene, proper maintenance of living spaces, etc.) will improve the long term sustainability of the renovation. The new dormitories will offer a space where the children can thrive, fostering a sense of belonging and hope for a brighter future.
